Michael Bloomberg (Bloomberg L.P. 總裁與創立人)

彭博剛在2001/11/06當選新任的紐約市市長，他是一位傑出的財經企業家。他所創辦的Bloomberg L.P.一年收益達25億美元，旗下員工超過八千多人，海外據點超過一佰多家，在財經資訊的提供上，彭博資訊一直是個中翹楚。而他本人十分富有，是美國第四十一位富豪（世界第八十二位）。根據Rois Rodden網站提供的資料，他是兩個孩子的爸，於1976年與Susan Brown結婚，1993年離婚，但前妻仍是其好友，且這次競選市長前妻也為他助選。父親是簿記員，母為家庭主婦，靠著助學貸款與泊車打工拿到John Hopkins大學工程學士，隨後又在Harvard Business School念了兩年。1966年在所羅門兄弟公司擔任債券交易員，1972年並成為合夥人，不久便管理所羅門兄弟的所有股票交易、銷售與資訊系統。在1981年所羅門兄弟被Phibro Corporation併購，彭博也被解職，彭博自己形容那是次卑鄙的政治手段。離開所羅門兄弟後，彭博利用自己的一千萬美元開始自己的事業。他說服美林採用他所建立的資料提供與分析系統。而這套系統為他定下財經資訊的江山，1981年10月離開所羅門兄弟創辦Innivative Market Systems，1986年5月正式更名為Bloomberg L.P.（資料出處www.bloomberg.com），1990年Bloomberg News開辦，1993年Bloomberg Radio開辦，1994年Bloomberg TV開辦，擁有完整的資訊媒體王國。而他也在事業版圖穩固後，開始對慈善事業與公共事務感到興趣。
