For more than half a century, the World Health Organization has been working to improve humanitys health and longevity.

But for thirty years, Taiwan has been excluded from the WHO. Ever since -- despite the health needs of its citizens, and the medical expertise Taiwan could contribute to the international community -- it has been barred from playing a role in the global health care body.

--->但近三十年間,台灣老是被WHO所排除在外.甚至無視於它的人民對健康的需求與它的醫學經驗對國際間的貢獻,台灣還是一直被阻撓不得參與這個全球健康照護的團隊.



If health is truly a non-political issue, then Taiwan should participate in the WHO.

If one issue should transcend politics, it is health.

--->若真的有個什麼議題應該超越政治,那就是健康.



The constitution of the World Health Organization upholds health as one of the fundamental rights of every human being... without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.

--->世界衛生組織的立意為高舉建康,使成為人類基本權利之一---不分人種,宗教,政治信仰,貧富,或地位.



Taiwan, however, has been excluded from the WHO for more than three decades.

--->然而,台灣被WHO所排擠在外也已超過三十年了.



Despite its exclusion, Taiwan endeavors to share its medical resources. Medical aid teams from Taiwan have worked in Central America, Africa, and the Pacific Islands.

--->儘管老是受到排斥,台灣仍竭盡所能地讓大家分享她自己的醫療資源.來自台灣的醫療援助團隊一直在中美洲,非洲與太平洋等島國工作著.



And if Taiwan were to play a role in the WHO, it could do much more.

--->假如台灣能參與WHO,它還能貢獻更多.
