友人某來，請占某貴顯之氣運，筮得蠱之升。

蠱者由風入山中，鬱積而生者也。以國家擬之，政府為山，有高傲之象，人民為風，有卑從之象。一高一卑，兩情不洽，渾如物入器皿中，風息不透，濕熱鬱蒸，變腐成蠱，同類相食也。

曩年外交未通，攘夷鎖國時之政略，恰相似也。然當維新之際，二三雄藩，首創改革，奮發有為，在幕府諸士，悲墜祖先之遺業，慷慨切齒，欲一死守之，戰爭不止。

是時某貴顯，能洞見內外之大勢，調劑兩間，以樽俎息干戈，不使內懮外患，一時並起，是誠治蠱之能臣，非庸庸者所能及也，其功不亦偉哉！

今占得此卦，值上爻之位，即為某貴顯功成身退之象，謂之「不事王候，高尚其事」
