彖曰：Preponderance of the Small. Success. Perseverance furthers. Small things may be done; great things should not be done. The flying bird brings the message: It is not well to strive upward, It is well to remain below. Great good fortune.

三十年(1897)，占我國與英國交際，筮得小過之恆。

我國與英國，地隔重洋，相距數萬里，兩國所以聯盟者，全藉使臣之通其好耳，即爻辭所云「不及其君，遇其臣」之謂也。

就卦位言，內卦屬我，外卦屬英，二五各居卦中; 就卦象言，全卦象取飛鳥，二五為鳥兩翼，飛則兩翼俱動，足見我兩國聯合之象，相挾相助，儼同一體，故「無咎」也。
